WE WIN!

What are you known for?  How do you like to live?  For Lambda Chi Alpha, the answer is the same…we are an active and competitive fraternity striving for success!  Have you ever been part of a winning tradition?  We are…and we love it!  Curious?  Meet us!  (click here)  Out of State?…no problem…let’s talk by phone!

Sports…our members are or gave benn part of the OSU Wrestling, Rugby, Waterpolo, and Crew (Rowing) teams as well as active members of the ROTC Community.  If Intramurals are more your thing, our chapter fields several teams in each sport. Over the last three years, we’ve won multiple championships in Bowling, Waterpolo, Golf, Wiffleball, Wheelchair Basketball, Football, Softball, and Co-ed Stadium Football.  Fortunately, if you want to play, our chapter pays for all the costs.  

Events… many groups, including Lambda Chi Alpha, sponsor campus-wide philanthropies or events.  Mock Rock (air guitar), Anchorsplash (Swim Meet), Iron Brawl (Flag Football) and OSU Sing are the biggest and we’ve won or placed second in all of them in the last few years.  These are fun events that get all the fraternities and sororities together.  Our own event, Watermelon Bash/CaddyShack’d raises money to feed the hungry of Linn-Benton Counties.  We were even recognized by the Community Outreach Inc (COI) for donating over 1 Million meals!! Programs… internationally we are one of the most recognized chapters within Lambda Chi Alpha.  With over 200 chapters in North America, our OSU chapter is one of the top chapters of Lambda Chi Alpha winning several awards annually including The President’s Trophy (only presented by chapters excelling in all programming for three years in a row).  And we’ve won every year we are eligible. Scholarships… Lambda’s scholastic endowment is one of the largest of OSU fraternities and annually awards close to $50,000 in grants and scholarships to our own members.  Academically, our GPA is typically over the all-men’s average and the all-fraternity average each term.

Want to fit in right away?  Lambda is one of the ONLY fraternities that do not have “pledges”.  Our new members are called Associate Members and they can sit in all chapter business meetings, get a full vote and can even hold office.  All of our members are part of organizations on campus and serve in student government, campus leadership, Outstanding Students (in their colleges), been selected for Homecoming Court, etc. We believe in accepting you as you are and welcome adding your strengths to ours!

The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha are excited to welcome you to the next amazing time of your life … college!  In a few short weeks, you will be one of thousands of new students looking to find their place on campus.  It’s an amazing—and sometimes challenging—experience. For almost 20% of the student body, they make this adjustment easier, more successful and way more fun by being part of the fraternity and sorority system (Greek Life). Lambda Chi is one of OSU’s oldest continuing fraternity, we are the largest and one of the most accomplished.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were one of the few fraternities to keep our house open. For many of our members, traveling back home wasn’t an option… so we became their home!

We BELIEVE that you can make a difference by associating with an experienced and excellent organization.  For over 100 years at OSU, Lambda has been attracting and developing key campus leaders and future alumni.  Each year, over 150 students are active Lambdas on campus…we are everywhere!  What’s more, our scholarship fund gives out close to $50,000 each year to our OSU members!  Imagine how excited your parents would be if your fraternity paid for part of your tuition?! Connect with Colby & Max to learn more

Lambda Chi Alpha is one of the largest fraternities on the Oregon State University campus and is academically, athletically, and socially oriented. Beginning in 1917, we’ve been here more than one hundred years!

New members have nearly all the same rights as initiated brothers (attending open chapter, wearing letters, voting, holding office, etc.). You will never be told to clean toilets or do ridiculous tasks. We also have a long legacy of winning Intramural Sports. No matter the sport, we typically have 2-4 teams involved.

Socially, we boast a very strong reputation on campus (please ask anyone and everyone about us!). We have weekly functions with sororities and the only second floor, elevated party room on campus. Academically, we offer many resources to help members. Scholarships (~$50,000 each year) are given to members that excel in grades and leadership. This is the most of any organization on campus!

Brotherhood is the absolute most important thing to us.

We are an extremely diverse group of guys that share common interests and enjoy spending time together. We never cut off our brothers for not making grades like some fraternities do, but instead, we work with them to help get them back on track. Aside from our great winning history in key Intramurals (football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc.) and campus events, each year our incoming freshmen excel in the classroom. We’re about building men.

What Is Fraternity?

Fraternity — specifically Lambda Chi Alpha — is an experience of lifelong relationships that will provide you a storehouse of memories and opportunities. Yet, it is much, much more.

Lambda Chi Alpha is belonging.

When you need someone to talk to, you will always find a brother who is genuinely interested and who really cares about what happens to you. You will find a brother who understands that you are only human and are seeking to improve yourself in many ways. You will find a brother who offers to help before you have a chance to ask.

Lambda Chi Alpha is brotherhood.

In a very real sense, the Fraternity creates a family relationship among its members. It aims to bring together a group of young men who will be congenial, loyal, and helpful to one another during some of the best years of their lives-the college years. Thus Lambda Chi Alpha offers its members the nearest possible equivalent to home that can be found on the college campus, and these close ties often bind men in friendships for life.

Lambda Chi Alpha is equality.

Lambda Chi Alpha was the first fraternity to abolish pledges when associate membership replaced pledging in 1972. Since that time, associate members have had full and equal rights in the chapter, including voting privileges and the ability to hold office, attend all meetings and functions, and wear the letters and regalia of the Fraternity. The Fraternity replaced pledge education with fraternity education, which dictates ongoing education for all members throughout their university years. New members are integrated immediately into the chapter. A big brother is assigned to each new member, and he teaches the essentials of chapter operations to the new member. Each week throughout the school year an educational session is held for all members. These educational sessions are either internal (history, ritualism, risk management, goal setting, recruitment skills, etc.) or external (study skills, current topics, alcoholism, resources for victims of date rape, CPR, etc.).
