The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha are excited to welcome you to the next amazing time of your life … college! In a few short weeks, you will be one of thousands of new students looking to find their place on campus. It’s an amazing—and sometimes challenging—experience. For almost 20% of the student body, they make this adjustment easier, more successful and way more fun by being part of the fraternity and sorority system (Greek Life). Lambda Chi is one of OSU’s oldest continuing fraternity, we are the largest and one of the most accomplished.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were one of the few fraternities to keep our house open. For many of our members, traveling back home wasn’t an option… so we became their home!
Good morning brothers! I hope all is well with everyone.
We are currently on Monday of Week 9 in Spring term. We don’t have a lot of news as a chapter this term because we aren’t allowed to operate normally. However, our very own Hi Pi and brother Dave Leathers brought home Oregon State’’ “Most Outstanding Greek Advisor Of The Year” award for 2020!
Dave makes continuous sacrifices and tough decisions to help the brothers of Alpha Lambda keep growing not only in member size, but in becoming better men as well. He’s a role model we’re very lucky to have around, and this was very well deserved.
On Saturday, brothers and members of the community participated in our annual winter philanthropy “Can you Dash?” — a canned food and winter clothing drive door to door around the suburbs of Corvallis.
As always, 100% of what we get is donated to our partner Community Outreach Inc. This year we were able to donate 1,000 meals and a large variety of winter clothes.
Special shoutout to High Theta Quinn Wilson for running an amazing event (his first one too!)
While Quinn was busy helping to eradicate hunger from the community of Corvallis, the rest of the high zeta was having a retreat with our brothers from the University of Oregon. It was an amazing day and we are happy to be working more closely with them in the future!
Away from home for the first time? Lambda Chi Alpha has it all!
Leadership Development is important, but how do you learn it? The classroom can only teach so much…se we offer our members:
Internships and partnerships with major corporations (OSU’s MECOP, Intel, New York Life, John Hancock, Nike, CH2M/Jacobs Engineering, Mercy Corps, etc).
A personal mentor. Each new member of Lambda Chi Alpha is automatically assigned an older “mentor” brother to help figure out classes, teachers and opportunities.
Authority to make decisions. Every officer in Lambda Chi Alpha has at least one or two assistant officers who are being trained in management, organization, motivation and leadership.
For as long as we can remember, Lambda Chi has welcomed new brothers from every state, making 1015 NW Monroe in Corvallis their new home away from home. Brothers like James, Kingston, and Max. In their own words:
“Coming from out of state, I didn’t know what to expect at college. Joining Lambda let me feel like I already belonged here at OSU. I found a group of friends that made me feel accepted and included. With this fraternity, there is always someone to do something with…study, play, and cheer for the Beavs!” —James Halleck (California)
Connections are key…its not who you know but how well you know them! Want to meet some people to help you in life? Lambda Chi Alpha members are involved…
With at least one social function each week with a sorority and fielding a sports team in every intramural event.
With our Campus…Lambda Chi Alpha is the only fraternity to require 100% participation in OSU clubs and organizations.
With our community. Our partnership with Community Outreach Incorporated has enabled us to be the only OSU fraternity to collect, donate and be recognized for providing over 1 million meals to the people of Linn-Benton Counties. Every penny we collect in our philanthropies are donated to our service cause.
With key alumni at our tailgates, alumni events and Alumni Career Fair (imagine a ballroom with tables and at each table is an alumnus in a different occupation…our members can ask questions about career opportunities, career paths to take and share resumes)
With our new building project. Lambda Chi Alpha will break ground soon on a brand new fraternity house to replace our current house.
“Hawaii is a place where everyone knows each other…and I like that. Joining Lambda gave me the exact same feeling as home…it has made me feel connected.” —Kingston Seguancia (Hawaii)
Make a difference! Be part of changing our campus, our community and our world! It all starts with you…

Lambda Chi Alpha is committed to helping you succeed at college. Study tables, in-house tutoring, advising and mentors will help you with academics, classes and homework. Our GPA is traditionally over the all-men’s average at OSU each term.
“I wanted to be part of something bigger than just me…to make a difference somehow. Lambda is one of the most involved fraternities on campus and I love the fact that we are known for giving back to others while we are sharing an incredible experience…LOL…and lets be honest…it’s really fun too!” —Max Shaffer (Georgia)

Sports…our members are part of the OSU Wrestling, Rugby, Waterpolo, and Crew (Rowing) teams as well as active members of the ROTC Community. If Intramurals are more your thing, our chapter fields several teams in each sport. Over the last three years, we’ve won multiple championships in Bowling, Waterpolo, Golf, Wiffleball, Wheelchair Basketball, Football, Softball, and Co-ed Stadium Football. Fortunately, if you want to play, our chapter pays for all the costs.
Events… many groups, including Lambda Chi Alpha, sponsor campus-wide philanthropies or events. Mock Rock (air guitar), Anchorsplash (Swim Meet), Iron Brawl (Flag Football) and OSU Sing are the biggest and we’ve won or placed second in all of them in the last few years. These are fun events that get all the fraternities and sororities together. Our own event, Watermelon Bash/CaddyShack’d raises money to feed the hungry of Linn-Benton Counties. We were even recognized by the Community Outreach Inc (COI) for donating over 1 Million meals!! Programs… internationally we are one of the most recognized chapters within Lambda Chi Alpha. With over 200 chapters in North America, our OSU chapter is one of the top chapters of Lambda Chi Alpha winning several awards annually including The President’s Trophy (only presented by chapters excelling in all programming for three years in a row). And we’ve won every year we are eligible. Scholarships… Lambda’s scholastic endowment is one of the largest of OSU fraternities and annually awards close to $50,000 in grants and scholarships to our own members. Academically, our GPA is typically over the all-men’s average and the all-fraternity average each term.
Want to fit in right away? Lambda is one of the ONLY fraternities that do not have “pledges”. Our new members are called Associate Members and they can sit in all chapter business meetings, get a full vote and can even hold office. All of our members are part of organizations on campus and serve in student government, campus leadership, Outstanding Students (in their colleges), been selected for Homecoming Court, etc. We believe in accepting you as you are and welcome adding your strengths to ours!
How can you win on campus at OSU? Belong to Lambda. How do you join? It starts with a conversation. Call, email or text our Recruitment Chairmen today to set up a time to meet either over the phone or in person.

We BELIEVE that you can make a difference by associating with an experienced and excellent organization.
For over 100 years at OSU, Lambda has been attracting and developing key campus leaders and future alumni. Each year, over 150 students are active Lambdas on campus…we are everywhere! What’s more, our scholarship fund gives out close to $50,000 each year to our OSU members! Imagine how excited your parents would be if your fraternity paid for part of your tuition?!
It’s important to BELONG to organizations that share your values for excellence in all areas…academics, social life, and community service. We ARE that organization!
Lambda Chi Alpha is one of the largest fraternities on the Oregon State University campus and is academically, athletically, and socially oriented. Beginning in 1917, we’ve been here more than one hundred years!
New members have nearly all the same rights as initiated brothers (attending open chapter, wearing letters, voting, holding office, etc.). You will never be told to clean toilets or do ridiculous tasks. We also have a long legacy of winning Intramural Sports. No matter the sport, we typically have 2-4 teams involved.
Socially, we boast a very strong reputation on campus (please ask anyone and everyone about us!). We have weekly functions with sororities and the only second floor, elevated party room on campus. Academically, we offer many resources to help members. Scholarships (~$50,000 each year) are given to members that excel in grades and leadership. This is the most of any organization on campus!
Brotherhood is the absolute most important thing to us.
We are an extremely diverse group of guys that share common interests and enjoy spending time together. We never cut off our brothers for not making grades like some fraternities do, but instead, we work with them to help get them back on track. Come by and we’ll be happy to show you around and introduce you!
Located at 1015 NW Monroe in Corvallis, Oregon, Lambda Chi has been in continuous operationg at Oregon State University for more than 100 years. Aside from our great winning history in key Intramurals (football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc.) and campus events, each year our incoming freshmen excel in the classroom. We’re about building men.
What Is Fraternity?
Fraternity — specifically Lambda Chi Alpha — is an experience of lifelong relationships that will provide you a storehouse of memories and opportunities. Yet, it is much, much more.
Lambda Chi Alpha is belonging.
When you need someone to talk to, you will always find a brother who is genuinely interested and who really cares about what happens to you. You will find a brother who understands that you are only human and are seeking to improve yourself in many ways. You will find a brother who offers to help before you have a chance to ask.
Lambda Chi Alpha is brotherhood.
In a very real sense, the Fraternity creates a family relationship among its members. It aims to bring together a group of young men who will be congenial, loyal, and helpful to one another during some of the best years of their lives-the college years. Thus Lambda Chi Alpha offers its members the nearest possible equivalent to home that can be found on the college campus, and these close ties often bind men in friendships for life.
Lambda Chi Alpha is equality.
Lambda Chi Alpha was the first fraternity to abolish pledges when associate membership replaced pledging in 1972. Since that time, associate members have had full and equal rights in the chapter, including voting privileges and the ability to hold office, attend all meetings and functions, and wear the letters and regalia of the Fraternity. The Fraternity replaced pledge education with fraternity education, which dictates ongoing education for all members throughout their university years. New members are integrated immediately into the chapter. A big brother is assigned to each new member, and he teaches the essentials of chapter operations to the new member. Each week throughout the school year an educational session is held for all members. These educational sessions are either internal (history, ritualism, risk management, goal setting, recruitment skills, etc.) or external (study skills, current topics, alcoholism, resources for victims of date rape, CPR, etc.).
